Governor Rick Perry and Governor Sarah Palin in San Antonio this week. Governor Perry is holding his framed lifetime membership to the National Rifle Association. Governor Palin is also a lifetime member of the NRA.

On Wednesday, August 20th, Governor Rick Perry addressed the 109th Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) National Convention where he honored incoming VFDW National Commander Glen Gardner of Round Rock and called on Texas lawmakers to provide in-state tuition to veterans.

“Educating more veterans is not only the right thing to do, it is a smart thing to do,” said Governor Perry. “Veterans have paid the greatest price our country could ask for in their sacrifice to preserve our freedom. They deserve nothing less than the best opportunities upon their return home.”

Gov. Rick Perry announced today that the state, working in concert with the U.S. Border Patrol, will begin cracking down on commercial truckers who knowingly smuggle illegal weapons, drugs or humans across the Texas-Mexico border.

Perry directed the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to work with Border Patrol, in an initiative dubbed Texas Hold ‘Em, to revoke the commercial driver licenses of those convicted of felony smuggling.
