AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today received the endorsement of the Texas Optometric Association PAC (TOPAC).
“Rick Perry has kept his focus on what’s best for the people of Texas, and has never been afraid to fight for what he believes in,” said Dr. Laurie Sorrenson, TOPAC Chair. “TOPAC is thankful for his defense of state’s rights in the midst of the national health care debate and proud to endorse him in his re-election campaign.”
TOPAC supports legislative efforts to benefit the safe and effective practice of eye and vision care in Texas. The efforts of the Texas Optometric Association and TOPAC have resulted in a long line of legislative successes that benefit optometrists and their patients across the state of Texas, including passage of the Medicaid Direct Access bill in 2007, which allows Medicaid patients to see optometrists without referrals from primary care physicians.
“I am honored to receive the support of the Texas Optometric Association PAC in my bid for re-election,” said Gov. Perry. “I look forward to helping ensure their profession has the tools it needs to compete and succeed in the years to come.”
