AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has received the endorsement of the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters (TSAFF) for re-election in 2010.
“After a unanimous vote from our convention delegates, I’m proud to announce TSAFF’s endorsement of Gov. Perry for re-election,” said Guy Turner, president of the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters. “Gov. Perry has been a true friend to us. His strong record of supporting fire fighters, emergency medical personnel and public safety is evidence of his strong commitment to the working men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect the people of Texas.”
TSAFF was established in 1938 and is Texas’ only professional statewide fire fighter organization, representing more than 15,000 members and 159 local affiliate chapters. TSAFF is dedicated to unifying Texas professional fire fighters, promoting their interests, supporting legislation on their behalf, and protecting the right of every Texas professional fire fighter to bargain collectively and work under a contract.
“As we pause today to honor the lives lost on 9/11, let us never forget the sacrifice that our first responders make on our behalf every day,” said Gov. Perry. “I am thankful for the support of Texas fire fighters in this upcoming election. I look forward to continue working on their behalf to ensure they have the tools they need to keep Texans safe, and to determine that the health, safety and working conditions of our first responders are always made a priority.”
